Brandi Woodell

Brandi Woodell is Assistant Professor of Sociology at Old Dominion University, investigating how social factors perpetuate inequality. Her research examines intersections of sexuality, gender, and geography—particularly LGBTQ+ experiences in religious, familial, and rural contexts.

Current projects analyze how rurality shapes sexual minorities' access to community resources and social support. Publications explore identity reconciliation among religious LGBTQ+ individuals, health disparities in non-urban settings, and family dynamics affecting minority wellbeing.

Methodologically, she employs qualitative and mixed-methods approaches to examine lived experiences. Prior work includes studies on homeless LGBTQ+ youth spirituality and Black/Latino family support systems.
