Dr. Ellen Copson is an Associate Professor and Honorary Consultant in Medical Oncology at the University of Southampton. She specializes in early and advanced breast cancer treatment and research, focusing on genomic factors, body composition, and nutrition's impact on oncological outcomes. Her work includes leading observational studies like the POSH cohort and the CANDO-3 pilot, which assess chemotherapy toxicity in breast cancer patients. She holds roles such as Chair of the WCRF Global Cancer Survivorship Expert Panel and co-chair of the Wessex Molecular Tumour Board. Her research spans clinical trials, survivorship studies, and genomic testing in cancer care.
Dr. Copson’s academic contributions include over 20 peer-reviewed publications, with recent work addressing obesity-associated breast cancer models, dietary patterns, and somatic genomic testing. She has been awarded the BMA Medical Book Award in Oncology (2017). She actively supervises PhD students, including Wilson Pui Fui Cheah in Cancer Sciences. Her teaching role includes deputy lead for Year One of the University of Southampton’s medical degree program.
