Ellen Brown

Ellen Brown is an Associate Lecturer and AHRC-funded doctoral candidate at the University of Warwick, researching the architectural history of British shopping centres built between 1968–1982. Her work examines how these structures negotiated historic environments with international modernist trends.

At The Courtauld Institute of Art, she teaches BA2 Histories: The Modern Interior. Research interests span architectures of consumption, 20th-century architectural history, sculpture and public art, architecture photography, and interior design histories.

Her academic background includes an MA in History of Art from The Courtauld Institute of Art focused on modernism in times of turmoil, and a BA in History of Art from the University of Leeds.
