Ellen Best serves as Department Head and Associate Professor in the Mike Cottrell College of Business at the University of North Georgia, where she has contributed since 2013. Her expertise centers on Taxation and Managerial Accounting, informed by prior corporate experience at KPMG LLP specializing in foreign inbound taxation.

Dr. Best's research examines Taxation methodologies, accounting pedagogy, cognitive judgment processes in financial decision-making, and ethical frameworks in business contexts. Her work bridges theoretical accounting principles with practical corporate tax applications and educational innovation.
She teaches foundational and advanced courses including Principles of Accounting I/II, Federal Income Taxation, Advanced Federal Income Taxation, and Accounting for Decision Making.
