Penelope Lyman serves as Associate Professor of Accounting in the Mike Cottrell College of Business at the University of North Georgia, where she has held a full-time position since 2007. Her academic appointments include prior adjunct roles at Georgia State University, University of Georgia, Georgia College & State University, and other institutions.

Professor Lyman specializes in financial accounting systems and educational technology applications within accounting pedagogy. Her research focuses on integrating spreadsheet capabilities and freeware tools into accounting curricula, with particular emphasis on business case studies for practical financial decision-making. She actively explores methods to enhance classroom resource development through accessible technology.
Her recent publications demonstrate consistent focus on accounting education technology, with recurring themes in spreadsheet modeling applications and business case analysis methodologies. The research trajectory reveals strong alignment between her academic work and practical industry applications.
Professor Lyman serves as faculty advisor for Enactus on the Oconee Campus and maintains active membership in the Georgia Association of Accounting Educators and American Accounting Association. She holds CIRTL Level I and Level II certifications for teaching excellence.
Professional engagement extends to her role as Controller for PML Milking Shorthorns since 1991 and ongoing consulting work in financial accounting systems. She teaches core accounting courses including Principles of Accounting I/II and Computer Information Systems.
