Elleke Boehmer is Professor of World Literature in English at the University of Oxford's Faculty of English, and a Fellow of Wolfson College. She directs the Oxford Centre for Life Writing (OCLW) and holds honorary doctorates from Linnaeus University. Her research bridges postcolonial studies, world literatures, and life-writing, focusing on migration, identity, and sub-Saharan Africa/South Asia.
Boehmer pioneered postcolonial literary studies, authoring influential works like *Indian Arrivals* (2015) and *Postcolonial Poetics* (2018). She leads the Accelerate Hub exploring narratives in African adolescent development and co-directs the *Writers Make Worlds* educational resource. Recent projects include *Southern Imagining*, a cultural history of southern hemisphere literatures.
Her awards include the ESSE Prize for *Indian Arrivals* and Olive Schreiner Prize for fiction. Boehmer advises on global humanities initiatives, including TORCH and Mellon-funded *Humanities and Identities*. She regularly publishes in journals like *Textual Practice* and collaborates internationally on Dutch/English postcolonial comparisons.
