Rutgers, The State University of New Jerseyمعرفی
Elizabeth Torres is a Professor in the Department of Psychology at Rutgers University, where she has been faculty since 2008. Her research focuses on sensory-motor integration, neurodevelopmental disorders (including autism and Parkinson’s disease), and translational approaches to clinical diagnostics. Her work emphasizes digital biomarkers and natural movement analysis to inform interventions.
She holds a PhD in Cognitive Science from UC San Diego (2001) and completed postdoctoral training in electrophysiology at Caltech. Her lab, the Sensory Motor Integration Lab, develops scalable algorithms to study motor learning, adaptation, and planning across diverse populations, including stroke patients and children with developmental disabilities.
Key research areas include:
- Clinical applications of sensory-motor metrics
- Digital phenotyping for autism diagnosis
- Interdisciplinary collaborations in neuroscience and computer science
- Environmental health interventions (e.g., asthma in agricultural communities)
Her recent work extends to early intervention for developmental disorders through analysis of natural behaviors, leveraging computational principles conserved across experimental modalities. She emphasizes real-world applicability of findings, with a focus on precision medicine approaches for neurodevelopmental disorders.
