Elizabeth Selvin

Elizabeth Selvin is a Professor of Epidemiology at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health with a joint appointment in the School of Medicine, Division of General Internal Medicine. She serves as Director of the Welch Center for Prevention, Epidemiology and Clinical Research and is affiliated with the Johns Hopkins Institute for Clinical and Translational Research.

Her research focuses on the intersection of epidemiology and clinical/public health policy, emphasizing diabetes and prediabetes diagnosis, screening, and biomarker development. She investigates cardiovascular disease, obesity, health equity, disparities, and continuous glucose monitoring.

Recent publications highlight her work on glycated hemoglobin's role in non-diabetic adults, racial differences in glycemic markers, confirmatory testing for undiagnosed diabetes, progression risks in older prediabetic adults, U.S. diabetes treatment trends, and cardiac injury thresholds via troponin assays. These span epidemiology, diabetology, public health, and clinical research.
