Elizabeth Schoen Simmons is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Speech-Language Pathology at Sacred Heart University and an Adjunct Assistant Professor in the Department of Developmental Neurolinguistics at Yale University. She holds a Ph.D. in Cognitive Psychology from the University of Connecticut (2020), a Clinical Fellowship from Yale University (2007), and an MS in Speech-Language Pathology from Southern Connecticut State University (2006).

Her research focuses on language and learning development in infants, toddlers, and children with language delays/autism spectrum disorders. She combines behavioral measures (e.g., eye-tracking) and neural methods (EEG) to study language processing. Her work is supported by NIH grants and conducted through the Toddler Language Development (ToLD) Laboratory at Sacred Heart University.
Publications highlight her contributions to understanding phonological development in ASD (2011), intervention strategies for preverbal ASD children (2012), and pragmatic language assessment protocols (in prep).
