Dr. Elizabeth Patitsas is an Assistant Professor at McGill University with a 50/50 cross-appointment between the Department of Integrated Studies in Education (DISE) and the School of Computer Science. Her research focuses on the sociology of computer science education, examining issues of access, equity, and policy impacts on gender balance in STEM. She holds a Ph.D. in Computer Science from the University of Toronto and a B.Sc. in Integrated Sciences from the University of British Columbia.
Her expertise spans computer science education, science and technology studies, and the sociology of education. She investigates how policy decisions shape CS education accessibility and the societal implications of universal CS literacy. Current projects explore CS educator beliefs, teaching methodologies for non-CS audiences, and gender dynamics in undergraduate programs.
Her research trends emphasize ethics in technology, equity in STEM education, and the intersection of CS with social justice.
