Dr. Anila Asghar is an Associate Professor and Associate Dean (Faculty Support and Development) at McGill University's Faculty of Education, Department of Integrated Studies in Education (DISE). She is a Member of the Royal Society of Canada and affiliated with the Science and Mathematics Education Research Group (SMERG). Her work focuses on science education reform, religion-science interactions in Muslim communities, and teacher development in diverse contexts.
Her research emphasizes inclusive learning environments for conceptual understanding of science and sustainability. She has supported hundreds of STEM teachers in Canadian schools, emphasizing socioconstructivist and sociocultural approaches to learning. She also explores peace studies, environmental education, and Islamic education intersections with STEM.
