Elizabeth Oriel

Elizabeth Oriel is a postdoctoral researcher (Research Fellow) at Aarhus University, Denmark, specializing in interdisciplinary studies of relational patterns between humans, animals, and plants through linguistic anthropology and decolonial frameworks.

Her research investigates how language perpetuates colonial processes using Sri Lankan human-elephant-plant relations as a case study, while exploring fungal network-inspired linguistic alternatives. She integrates philosophy, anthropology, and ethology to examine cross-species wellbeing and communication, with additional focus on climate change adaptation through collaborations with the Social and Environmental Research Institute.
