Dr. Elizabeth Ofili is a Professor of Medicine and serves as Director & Senior Associate Dean of the Clinical Research Center & Clinical and Translational Research at Morehouse School of Medicine. She is a nationally and internationally recognized clinician scientist with particular focus on cardiovascular disparities and women's health.
Dr. Ofili has been continuously funded by the NIH and industry/foundations since 1994, with a distinguished track record in clinical trials that impact health disparities. In 2002, as president of the Association of Black Cardiologists, she led the initiative to implement the landmark African American Heart Failure Trial (AHEFT), whose findings led to a change in practice guidelines for the treatment of heart failure in African Americans. Her research spans cardiovascular disparities, preventive cardiology, and the use of technology to improve patient care.
Dr. Ofili's publications reflect a strong focus on cardiovascular health disparities, clinical trials methodology, and health equity. Her recent work includes studies on hypertension treatment, genomics for health equity, and strategies for strengthening research collaborations. She has published over 130 scientific papers in national and international journals and delivered over 600 scientific presentations.

Dr. Ofili has mentored over 30 MD and PhD clinical and translational science investigators, many of whom remain at Morehouse School of Medicine. She has also mentored over 25 underrepresented minority STEM undergraduates and high school students through funding from NASA and the Minority Biomedical Research Students program. As senior co-PI of the Atlanta Clinical and Translational Science Institute, she has engaged over 673 investigators and 134 trainees in discovery science, training, and community engagement. Her work continues to focus on building clinical research infrastructure and addressing cardiovascular health disparities through community-engaged research.
