Elizabeth Mulvaney is a Clinical Assistant Professor at the University of Pittsburgh School of Social Work, where she teaches in both the MSW and BASW programs. She holds a clinical social work license in Pennsylvania and has 14 years of practice experience in gerontological social work, focusing on medical care management, program administration, behavioral care planning, dementia care, and end-of-life care.
- Education: MSW from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, BA in Psychology from the University of Virginia.
Her research and practice interests include geriatric workforce development, interprofessional education, Alzheimer’s disease, ethics, palliative care, and problem gambling prevention for older adults. She previously served as the School’s first Coordinator for the Hartford Partnership Program for Aging Education (2005–2011) and is currently the Chair of its Direct Practice Concentration.
Recent publications highlight trends in gerontological social work education, interprofessional collaboration, and mental health for older adults. She has also presented on dementia care, caregiver perspectives, and brain health initiatives.
- Community involvement: Board member of the Southwestern Pennsylvania Partnership for Aging, advocating for older adults and disability support.
