Elizabeth Jelinek

Elizabeth Jelinek is a Professor of Philosophy and Chair of the Department of Philosophy & Religion at Christopher Newport University. Her research focuses on the intersection of science, epistemology, and metaphysics in Plato's natural philosophy, particularly his works Timaeus and Phaedo. She holds a PhD from Duke University and a BA from Wellesley College.

Research Interests: Her scholarship emphasizes ancient Greek philosophy, with special attention to Plato's cosmology, epistemological concerns, and the relationship between philosophy and science. Teaching and Pedagogy: Recognized for innovative teaching methods, she advocates for small-group learning and critical thinking integration in philosophy education. Her work on pedagogy has been published in Teaching Philosophy.
