Dr. Elizabeth Hodson is a Lecturer in Fine Art Critical Studies and PhD Coordinator for the School of Design at The Glasgow School of Art (GSA). She holds a PhD in Social Anthropology from the University of Aberdeen (2012), advised by Prof. Tim Ingold, focusing on Icelandic contemporary art. Her postdoctoral work (2013-2018) explored 'Knowing From the Inside' under European Research Council funding.
Her research bridges anthropology, art history, and contemporary art practice, addressing themes like materiality, alterity, and posthumanism. Notable projects include collaborations with artist Emily Joy and founding the On Feminism reading group with Margaret Salmon. She curates interdisciplinary exhibitions such as 'Class Matters' (2024) and 'Queereal Secretions' (2023), and has published widely on topics ranging from skin/fur in performance art to water as non-human borders.
