Elizabeth Gould is the Dorman T. Warren Professor at the Princeton Neuroscience Institute. She earned her Ph.D. from UCLA and currently advises student Emma Diethorn. Her laboratory investigates structural plasticity in the adult mammalian brain, examining how environmental, hormonal, and neural stimuli impact neuronal, astrocyte, and microglial structures.
Her research focuses on neurogenesis, synaptogenesis, glial reactivity, and extracellular matrix dynamics to understand behavioral functions of the hippocampus. The ultimate goals include determining how brain structural changes influence cognition and anxiety regulation, while identifying factors that enhance plasticity and cell survival in developing and adult brains.
