Elizabeth Goldring

Elizabeth Goldring is a Senior Fellow at MIT’s Center for Advanced Visual Studies (CAVS) and holds affiliations with the School of Architecture + Planning. Her roles include former positions as lecturer in the Department of Architecture, Exhibits and Projects Director at CAVS, and Acting Co-Director. Her interdisciplinary research focuses on visualizing vision loss and developing assistive technologies like the 'seeing machine' for visually impaired individuals, collaborating with artists, scientists, engineers, and physicians from MIT, Harvard, and institutions such as the Joslin Eye Institute.

Current projects include a theatre production with director Robert Wilson and a collaborative book on CAVS’s history with former fellows and guests. Her work bridges art, technology, and healthcare, emphasizing accessibility and cross-disciplinary innovation.
