Elizabeth George is a Professor of Physics at Wittenberg University, specializing in sub-atomic physics, nuclear beta decay, and physics education. With a PhD in experimental nuclear physics from the University of Wisconsin-Madison (1993), she has taught at Wittenberg since 1998 and designed courses such as biomedical physics, nuclear physics, and environmental physics.
Her research focuses on:
- Precision tests of fundamental forces and symmetries (beta decay experiments)
- Physics education research (computers in labs, curriculum development)
- Environmental applications (river restoration, carbon footprint analysis)
She has secured multiple NSF grants for advanced physics instrumentation and laboratory instruction initiatives. Recognized with the Wittenberg Alumni Association Distinguished Teaching Award (2019) and CASE Ohio Professor of the Year (2014), she actively contributes to national physics organizations and conference leadership.
