Elizabeth G Ferris is a Research Professor and Director of the Institute for the Study of International Migration (ISIM) at Georgetown University’s School of Foreign Service. She also holds an adjunct role as a JD researcher. Her expertise spans human rights, international migration, and refugee policy. Prior to Georgetown, she worked at the Brookings Institution and the World Council of Churches in Geneva, contributing to humanitarian assistance and displacement studies.
Dr. Ferris earned her BA from Duke University and her MA and PhD from the University of Florida. She has advised the UN General Assembly on refugee and migrant issues and authored influential books, including *Consequences of Chaos* (2016) and *Refugees, Migration and Global Governance* (2019). Her research focuses on global migration governance, humanitarian crises, and policy frameworks for displaced populations.
Her work emphasizes multilateral collaboration, with a particular focus on Syria’s humanitarian crisis and the negotiation of international compacts to address migration challenges. She fluently speaks French and Spanish, enhancing her engagement with global humanitarian efforts.
