Elizabeth (Liz) Coulson is an Assistant Professor in Education Studies at the University of Toronto Mississauga (UTM) and serves as the Coordinator of the Education Studies Minor program. She previously worked as Secondary Practicum Coordinator at the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education (OISE) and has extensive experience as a former elementary and secondary school teacher in Ontario.
- PhD in Education (Curriculum Design) from Western University
- MEd from Brock University
- MSc in Teacher Education from Niagara University
- BA Hons from Western University
Her research focuses on innovative instructional modalities, culturally responsive pedagogy, and experiential learning through international collaborations. She co-founded UTM’s first supplemental education course and leads international experiential learning initiatives in Southeast Asia, Europe, and South America. Her recent work explores virtual learning environments and social entrepreneurship in education.

She has secured grants from Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) and the Access Pathway University Fund to support projects related to AI/VR education and pathways for Black educators in teacher education.
