Elizabeth Bowser is an Assistant Professor in the History and Social Sciences department at Southwestern Adventist University (SWAU), where she has served for 19 years. She holds a Ph.D. in History (Medieval Europe) from the University of Minnesota (forthcoming), an M.A. in History (Early Modern Europe) from the University of California (2000, Dean’s Fellow), and dual B.A. degrees in History and French from Pacific Union College (1994, Magna Cum Laude and With Honors). She has taught courses such as Advanced World Civilizations, Historical and Political Geography, and Medieval Europe.
Her academic background includes studies in France (Collonges-sous-Saleve), England (Newbold College), and a year as a student missionary in South Korea. Her research interests span European history, with a focus on medieval and early modern periods, alongside global historical themes. She is a member of Phi Alpha Theta, the history honor society.
Outside academia, Bowser enjoys humor, music, and tabletop games. She is married to a colleague at SWAU and has one son.
