Elizabeth Bernick

Elizabeth Bernick is a Professor of Art History at Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD), Savannah, GA (2023–present). Previously, she held roles as Adjunct Professor at Catholic University of America (2017), Instructor at Johns Hopkins University (2014–17), and served as Coordinator of the Johns Hopkins History of Art Graduate Student Lecture Series (2014–15). Her research focuses on Renaissance art, particularly drawing techniques, sketchbooks, and the intersection of technology and art history.

Education includes a Ph.D. in Art History from Johns Hopkins University and a B.A. in Art History from Barnard College. She has held prestigious fellowships including the ACLS Fellowship and Samuel H. Kress Predoctoral Fellowship. Her work has been recognized with awards such as the Ricciardi Essay Prize nomination for her 2019 article on Cesare da Sesto’s sketchbook.

Bernick has curated exhibitions at the J. Paul Getty Museum, including 18th-Century Pastels (2022–2023) and Pastel Portraits: Drawn from Life? (2023). Her publications span scholarly articles, museum catalogues, and research guides on Renaissance art and drawing practices.
