Dr. Elizabeth Angeli is an Associate Professor in the Department of English at Marquette University, affiliated with the Klingler College of Arts & Sciences. Her work bridges rhetoric, healthcare communication, and public humanities. She holds a Ph.D. in English from Purdue University, with focuses on Rhetoric and Composition, and an M.A. in English from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. Additionally, she is pursuing a Master of Arts in Pastoral Counseling at Loyola University Chicago.
Her research explores first responder writing practices, public-facing humanities, and graduate education in the humanities. She has developed an online training platform for medical report writing and consults with EMS agencies. Her current project, supported by the Way Klingler Fellowship, focuses on curricular innovations to prepare humanities graduates for non-academic roles.
Angeli teaches courses in writing for health/medicine, public humanities, and career discernment. She also serves as a spiritual director, particularly supporting LGBTQIA+ communities. Notable awards include the 2020 CCCC Best Book Award for Rhetorical Work in Emergency Medical Services and grants from NSF’s Innovation Corps and Marquette’s Summer Faculty Fellowship.
Her scholarly contributions span EMS documentation, medical rhetoric, and pedagogical strategies for healthcare training. She advises grants and internships, including the MU4Gold Scholars program. Professional roles include editorial board membership at Technical Communication Quarterly and leadership in organizations like the Conference on College Composition and Communication.
