Elizabeth Ambrose

Elizabeth Ambrose serves as an Associate Professor in the Department of Medicinal Chemistry within the College of Pharmacy at the University of Minnesota, leading research in bioterrorism defense and neuropharmacology.

Her laboratory specializes in CBRNE (chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear, and high-explosive) agent mitigation, with primary focus on designing small-molecule inhibitors for anthrax toxin lethal factor (LF) and ricin toxin A (RTA), alongside engineering enzyme active sites to hydrolyze organophosphate nerve agents including sarin, soman, and VX for emergency therapeutic applications.

Complementary research explores CNS-targeted drug design and optimization, emphasizing psychiatric pharmacy and neuropharmacology to develop novel treatments for neurological and psychiatric disorders through rational drug development approaches.
