Elizabeth (Beth) McGraw is a Professor and Department Head of Biology at Pennsylvania State University. Her research focuses on mosquito vector biology, particularly the genetic and environmental factors influencing Aedes aegypti transmission of dengue virus, and the use of Wolbachia for biocontrol. She is affiliated with the Huck Institutes of the Life Sciences and the Center for Infectious Disease Dynamics.

Research Interests include understanding how mosquito and viral genomes interact to determine transmissibility, using vector competence assays, quantitative genetics, and genomics. Her lab investigates Wolbachia’s role in pathogen blocking, focusing on host immunity and resource competition mechanisms.
Scientific Awards highlight her contributions to microbiology, genetics, and infectious disease research, including the 2024 Fellow of American Society of Microbiology and the 2013 Eureka Prize for the Eliminate Dengue team.
She is committed to inclusive science through the Rainbow Science Network and leads a multidisciplinary lab at Penn State.
