Eliza Proszczuk

Eliza Proszczuk serves as an Assistant Professor in the Textile Studio at the Faculty of Interior Design, Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw, where she is a visual artist, animator, educator, and creator of textiles, spatial objects, and collages.

Her academic foundation includes:

• Graduation from the Faculty of Painting at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw
• Graduation from the Faculty of Visual Arts at Post St. Joost in Breda
• Doctorate from the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw (2015)

Proszczuk's practice centers on socially engaged art with deep feminist perspectives, exploring femininity through collaborations with marginalized communities including incarcerated women, rehabilitation center patients, and refugees. She integrates traditional northeastern Polish craft techniques—particularly textile arts—with contemporary critical discourse, frequently drawing from matriarchal traditions and sisterhood frameworks. Her work bridges community activism, climate justice, and technology studies through interdisciplinary methodologies.

Her recognized achievements include:

• Ministry of Culture and National Heritage Scholarship (awarded twice)
• ZAiKS Scholarship (awarded twice)

Proszczuk leads community-based artistic initiatives and co-develops the international research project "Trace as a research agenda for climate change, technology studies, and social justice" with EU scientists since 2021. Her recent exhibition "Double Thread" (2023) at Warsaw's Per libros ad astra gallery featured embroidered photographic works like "Album rodzinny" (2017), demonstrating her signature fusion of traditional craft and contemporary socio-political commentary.
