Eliza Kulbat

Dr. hab. inż. Eliza Kulbat serves as an Associate Professor and Head of the Department of Environmental Engineering Technology at the Faculty of Civil and Environmental Engineering, Gdańsk University of Technology. She also holds the position of Technologist within the same department, with her office located in room 201B of the HYDRO building.

Her academic credentials include:

• Obtained the degree of dr hab. inż. (habilitated doctor engineer) in Environmental Engineering (Technology) in 2018
• Obtained the degree of dr inż. (doctor engineer) in Environmental Engineering (Technology) in 2002

Dr. Kulbat's research spans critical areas of environmental engineering:

• Heavy metal speciation and contamination in aquatic ecosystems
• Advanced wastewater disinfection technologies
• Nutrient removal processes for agricultural and municipal wastewaters
• Stormwater management and alternative water resource development
• Sustainable solid waste and sewage sludge management
• Antibiotic resistance patterns in water environments

Her publication record shows consistent contributions to practical environmental solutions, with recent work examining innovative coagulation techniques using natural materials, membrane processes for water reuse, and long-term sediment quality monitoring in water reservoirs.

Dr. Kulbat has secured research funding including:

• GRANT MNiSW for her project on heavy metal accumulation and speciation in bottom sediments (2011-2013)

She actively collaborates with researchers both within and outside her institution, with her work having direct applications for municipal wastewater treatment facilities serving large populations including the Gdańsk agglomeration (1.2 million inhabitants).

As a leader in her field, Dr. Kulbat heads the Department of Water and Wastewater Technology research team, which focuses on environmental protection technologies, particularly water and wastewater treatment, sludge management, and waste management systems.
