Eliza Jeffords serves as Associate Professor and Director of Strings for Viola at the School of Music, Texas Lutheran University, where she holds the Anita Windecker Endowed Chair. She is an active performer and educator with extensive orchestral and chamber music experience across Texas.
Her education includes a D.M.A. in Viola Performance from the University of Cincinnati (2010), an M.M. from Indiana University (2006), and a B.M. from Vanderbilt University (2003), where she graduated summa cum laude. She completed specialized training in violin pedagogy and Suzuki teaching methods at Cincinnati, Indiana, and Vanderbilt.
Jeffords' research bridges performance practice and music education, focusing on viola technique, intonation systems, and the physics of sound production in string instruments. Her work emphasizes practical applications for music students and performers, as demonstrated through conference presentations on music major preparation and technical training methodologies.
Her scientific recognition includes the prestigious Anita Windecker Endowed Chair.

As Director of Strings, Jeffords mentors students through the university's string program and directs the Texas Lutheran University Chamber Orchestra for the First Friday Concert Series. She regularly provides masterclasses for high school orchestras across Texas and has presented at institutions including Ohio State University and Stephen F. Austin University.
Jeffords maintains an active performance schedule as Assistant Principal Viola of the Mid-Texas Symphony since 2010 and substitute violist for the San Antonio Symphony, Corpus Christi Symphony, and Victoria Symphony. She performs extensively with the Mid-Texas Symphony Chamber Players at venues including libraries, high schools, and cultural centers across central Texas.
