Eliseo Vilalta Perdomo is a Senior Lecturer in Operations and Service Management at Aston Business School, part of the College of Business and Social Sciences at Aston University. His roles include leading research in sustainable supply chains, community operational research, and systems thinking. He has held academic positions at Tecnológico de Monterrey (Mexico) and the University of Lincoln, where he coordinated interdisciplinary digitalization initiatives. He holds a PhD in Operations Management from the University of Lincoln (2005) and degrees in Industrial & Systems Engineering from Tecnológico de Monterrey (1987, 1989).
Research Interests: Focuses on sustainable microbusiness integration, resilience in short food supply chains, and systems thinking applications. Current projects explore nanostores' role in last-mile logistics and generative AI in education.
Grants & Projects: £204k KTP grant (Butlers Farmhouse Cheeses), £6.1k GCRF grant (SAFeNET), and €14.4k vaccine cold-chain project. Co-led the £3.68M COM3 Interreg project addressing North Sea region competitiveness.
Awards: 2020 Nigel Slack Teaching Innovation Award (EurOMA), 2019 Teaching Excellence Award (University of Lincoln), and 2015 Doctor Honoris Causa from Universidad Privada Antenor Orrego.
Teaching: Designs challenge-based learning modules integrating Industry 4.0 and systems thinking. Courses include Operations Management (undergraduate/postgraduate) and Designing & Managing Operations Systems.
International Collaboration: Maintains partnerships with universities in Colombia, Peru, Spain, and Mexico. Serves on advisory boards including the Operational Research Society's Award Committee and the Universidad Popular Autónoma del Estado de Puebla's Competitiveness Research Group.
