Elise Louviot is a Lecturer in the Faculty of Letters and Human Sciences at the University of Reims Champagne-Ardenne, specializing in medieval Germanic languages and literatures. She holds a PhD from the University of Lorraine (2012) and has extensive academic qualifications including a Master's from the University of Cambridge and ENS Lyon.
Her research focuses on Old English, Old Saxon, and Old Norse languages, with particular emphasis on medieval textuality, formulaic expressions, and pragmatic markers in early Germanic texts. She explores intersections between orality and textuality in medieval narratives, as seen in her monograph Direct Speech in Beowulf (2016) and comparative studies of speech representation in vernacular religious texts.
Louviot currently co-leads the MEEF Master’s program’s second year and oversees courses on medieval literature and foreign language pedagogy. She is Vice-President of the Association of Anglicist Medievalists in Higher Education and has editorial roles in prestigious journals like Études Médiévales Anglaises. Her recent publications address both historical linguistic analysis and contemporary reinterpretations of medieval themes in modern literature.
