Elise Defreyne is a researcher at the Centre de Recherche Information, Droit et Société (CRIDS) at the University of Namur since 2008. She specializes in media law and European Union law, with a doctoral thesis (2018) focusing on the Europeanization of Belgian public media through state aid law. She serves as an invited lecturer in the Faculty of Law, teaching courses on legal foundations and public law. Her academic roles include coordinating the shifted schedule program for the law bachelor's degree.
Education: She holds a Candidate en droit (2004), Licenciée en droit (2007, UCLouvain), Diplôme complémentaire en gestion (2008, ICHEC), and a doctorate in law (2018, UNamur).
Research interests span media regulation, digital content moderation, online platform policies, and European media policy. She contributed to projects like the European TV Monitoring initiative and published extensively on topics such as the European Media Freedom Act, data protection case law, and influencer marketing transparency.
Professional activities include conference participation on digital services regulation and inclusive education strategies. She co-authored legal textbooks and lexicons, demonstrating her commitment to legal education and scholarly communication.
