Elisabeth Wollin is an Associate Professor in Ethnology at the Department of History and Contemporary Studies, Södertörn University. Her work bridges ethnology, cultural geography, and sustainability studies, with a focus on place-related conditions influencing everyday life and meaning-making.
Research interests include
- Cultural perspectives on place, city, and country
- Social sustainability and regional development
- Community planning and political anthropology
- Interactions between rural and urban norms
Her 2014 dissertation We Belong to the Future of Sweden analyzed sparsely populated areas in northern Sweden, examining tensions between local realities and sustainability rhetoric.
She teaches ethnology and contributes to teacher training programs. Since 2019, she has served as head of the ethnology department.
