Elisabeth Windle is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of English and Department of Women, Gender, and Sexuality Studies at Washington University in St. Louis. With two decades of teaching experience, she specializes in queer literature, feminist theory, and pedagogy. Her research explores queer cultural nostalgia and its intersection with contemporary identity formation, published in journals like Camera Obscura and MELUS. She currently teaches courses on queer U.S. literature, true crime genres, and literary theory.

Her research interests blend literary analysis with visual culture studies, focusing on how queer communities construct meaning through nostalgic engagement with media. Recent work examines teaching intersectionality in writing classrooms. She has received multiple teaching awards, including the 2021-22 Humanities Faculty Appreciation and 2016 Katharine Newman Best Essay Award.
Windle actively advocates for non-tenure-track faculty through her role on the Association for Teaching, Research, and Practice Faculty Executive Board. Recent grants include a Bauer Leadership Center initiative and a Literacies for Life grant to innovate pedagogical strategies.
