Elisabeth Sheffield is a Professor and Director of the Creative Writing Program at the University of Colorado Boulder. She holds a distinguished academic career with affiliations spanning North Cyprus, Germany, and Northern Ireland, including Fulbright lectureships in Germany (1999/2000) and Northern Ireland (2014). Her work bridges creative writing and critical theory, focusing on British Literature, Gender Studies, and Modernist narratives.
Research interests include poststructuralist and feminist literary theory, with a focus on interdisciplinary storytelling and the intersection of gender with narrative form. Her novels explore complex themes like identity, existentialism, and cultural memory through innovative structures and layered voices.
Key publications include *Helen Keller Really Lived* (2014), *Fort Da: A Report* (2009), and *Gone* (2003), alongside a monograph on James Joyce. Awards include the 2012 NEA Fellowship and two Fulbrights, recognizing her contributions to literature and academia.
Her academic leadership includes directing CU Boulder’s Creative Writing Program, fostering emerging writers while maintaining a prolific creative and critical output.
