Elisabeth Assing Hvidt

Elisabeth Assing Hvidt is an Associate Professor at the Department of Public Health, University of Southern Denmark, affiliated with the Research Unit of General Practice VIP and the Center for Philosophy and Ethics of Health. She is actively engaged in interdisciplinary research at the intersection of humanities, social sciences, and healthcare, with a strong focus on relational dynamics in digital health contexts.

Her research interests include empathy in healthcare, video consultations, human-centered AI (especially chatbots), and new models of organizing primary care. She employs mixed methods, combining qualitative ethnographic approaches with quantitative surveys, and draws theoretical insights from phenomenology, post-phenomenology, health sociology, and Science and Technology Studies.

Her recent publications reveal a consistent focus on digital transformations in general practice, particularly the ethical, relational, and organizational impacts of video consultations and AI-driven communication tools.
