Elisa Linseisen

Dr. Elisa Linseisen is a Professor of Film and Media Studies at the Hochschule für bildende Künste Hamburg (HFBK), holding her position since October 2024. She completed her PhD in 2019, titled High Definition: Media-Philosophical Image Processing, published by meson.press in 2020. Her research focuses on digital aesthetics, post-cinema, queer computing, and media philosophy. Prior to her current role, she taught and researched at institutions in Hamburg, Vienna, Weimar, Paderborn, and Bochum. Linseisen’s work bridges artistic practice with theoretical inquiry, emphasizing the epistemology of digital imagery and canon criticism.

Her academic affiliations include the HFBK’s Film Department, which emphasizes avant-garde filmmaking traditions, and the Theory and History Department, engaging with cultural sciences and media theory. She is actively involved in interdisciplinary projects, such as the Redesign Democracy initiative exploring voting process innovation. Linseisen’s contributions extend to curatorial work, including exhibitions and symposia on topics like friendship in film and the future of public art.
