Elisa Gavard is a neuropsychologist and Lecturer at Aix-Marseille University, holding an ATER position (temporary teaching and research position) at the Centre de Recherche en Psychologie et Neurosciences (CRPN), which operates under the joint supervision of Aix-Marseille University (AMU) and the French National Center for Scientific Research (CNRS). She is affiliated with the Cognitive Psychology Laboratory (LPC) and collaborates with the Institute of Language, Communication and the Brain (ILCB).
Her research focuses on semantic and syntactic prediction mechanisms in reading, statistical learning abilities, and developmental dyslexia, particularly investigating how university students with dyslexia develop compensatory strategies to overcome reading difficulties. She employs neuroimaging techniques including fMRI to study the neural correlates of reading processes.
Analysis of her publication record reveals a strong research trajectory examining the relationship between predictive processing in reading and statistical learning abilities, with particular attention to how individuals with dyslexia compensate for lower-level reading deficits through enhanced use of semantic and syntactic context. Her work bridges cognitive psychology, neuroscience, and educational applications for understanding reading development and disorders.
Dr. Gavard has established productive collaborations with researchers including Johannes C. Ziegler, Valérie Chanoine, Franziska Geringswald, Jean-Luc Anton, and Eddy Cavalli, reflecting her integration within both French and international research networks in cognitive neuroscience and reading research.
