Elisa Cunningham is a Lecturer in Illustration at Falmouth University and a freelance illustrator. She joined the Falmouth Illustration teaching team in 2024 after graduating with a BA(Hons) in Illustration from Falmouth University in 2013. She holds an MA in Graphic Arts from the University of the West of England (2020) and a Postgraduate Certificate in Higher Education (PGCHE) from the University of East London (2023).
Her professional work spans publishing, editorial, food illustration, lettering, advertising, reportage, and animation. Notable clients include Bloomsbury Publishing, Penguin Random House, The Washington Post, and the BBC. She has been shortlisted for the Serco Prize for Illustration twice (2014 and 2015) and is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.
Elisa serves as an External Examiner for the BA(Hons) Illustration program at the University of South Wales and is a member of the Association of Illustrators. Her research interests focus on visual storytelling, editorial illustration, and interdisciplinary creative practices.
