Elisa Corsiero

Elisa Corsiero is a Senior Lecturer in Immunology at Queen Mary University of London, affiliated with the Centre for Experimental Medicine & Rheumatology within the Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry. Her research focuses on autoimmune mechanisms in rheumatic diseases, particularly Sjögren’s syndrome and rheumatoid arthritis. She holds a Master’s in Industrial Biotechnology from the University of Milan and completed her PhD at Queen Mary under Professors Pitzalis and Bombardieri, investigating B cell autoreactivity in autoimmune patients.

Dr Corsiero has received significant funding, including a Versus Arthritis Career Development Fellowship (2019) and a Barts Charity Large Project Grant (2022) for developing diagnostic tools and immunotherapies targeting disease-specific neoepitopes. Her work combines molecular immunology, antibody engineering, and cellular biology to elucidate autoantigen recognition pathways.

Her key research interests include B cell tolerance defects, stromal-B cell crosstalk in ectopic lymphoid structures, and therapeutic antibody generation. She leads undergraduate teaching in pharmacology modules and actively collaborates with institutions like Pisa University and the IRCCS Instituto Tumori in Milan.
