Dr. Elisa Bellotti is a Senior Lecturer in Sociology at the University of Manchester and co-director of the Mitchell Centre for Social Network Analysis. She serves on the board of directors of INSNA and directs the MSc in Social Network Analysis. Her expertise spans social network analysis, mixed methods, and gender studies.
Education: PhD in Sociology (2006, Catholic University of Milan) and BA in Italian Literature (2001, same institution).
Research focuses on gender and social networks, including their roles in science, crime, health, and consumption. Key areas include gendered micro-interactions, criminal networks, and supportive networks in domestic abuse cases. She advocates mixed-method approaches to sociological inquiry.
Recent work examines anti-money laundering strategies, malaria prevention networks, and gender inequalities in academic collaborations. She leads projects on counterfeit alcohol distribution and modern slavery networks, emphasizing criminological and network-based analyses.
