Elisa Alvarez-Garrido is an Assistant Professor in the Sonoco International Business Department at the Darla Moore School of Business, University of South Carolina. Her research focuses on venture capital financing of innovation, particularly in deep-tech and life sciences sectors such as biotechnology and clinical diagnostics. She explores institutional impacts on investments, including Brexit's effects, and new funding approaches for breakthrough innovations.
Education: Ph.D. in Management from The Wharton School (2010), M.S. from Wharton (2007), and multiple degrees from Universidad Carlos III de Madrid, including a JD. She previously taught at Georgia State University.
