She directs large-scale projects such as PRECISE (Nordforsk) and NORCHER (Research Council of Norway), teaches graduate courses in economic modeling, and has published extensively on cost-effectiveness, precision medicine, and end-of-life care.
Education
- Major in Economics, University of Oslo (1998)
- Dr. polit. in Economics, University of Oslo (2008)
Research Interests
Her research integrates economic evaluation with clinical and registry data to inform policy. Core themes include:
- Economic evaluation alongside clinical trials and Health Technology Assessment (HTA)
- Precision medicine financing and uncertainty
- End-of-life care utilization and costs
- Cancer screening programs and inequalities
- Modeling survival and quality-of-life outcomes
Recent work applies simulation modeling, micro-costing, and deep-learning risk stratification to prostate, colorectal, and breast cancers, as well as traumatic injury and COPD.
Scientific Output & Trends
Since 2017 she has led or co-authored more than 120 peer-reviewed publications, book chapters, and protocols. The 2024–2025 corpus shows a clear pivot toward genomic-based oncology, with several early cost-effectiveness analyses of whole-genome sequencing, precision-drug selection, and AI-guided biomarkers. Earlier work focused on colorectal cancer screening, trauma care pathways, and health-system sustainability.
Projects & Funding
- Principal Investigator, PRECISE – Health economic evaluation of uncertain evidence in personalized medicine (Nordforsk)
- Principal Investigator, NORCHER – Norwegian Centre for Health Services Research (Research Council of Norway)
- Co-investigator on screening, end-of-life, and rehabilitation studies funded by national and EU sources
Teaching & Supervision
She currently teaches HEVAL5120 and HEVAL5130 “Modeling in Economic Evaluation” and has previously led courses in health finance, budgeting, and investments. Doctoral and post-doctoral supervision is conducted within the Health Economics Research Network (HERO) and EXCEED consortium.
Research Groups & Collaborations
She is affiliated with CHARM (Rehabilitation Models & Services), the Health Economics and Policy Group, Health Services Research at Akershus University Hospital, and the pan-Nordic HERO network, facilitating multi-center RCTs and registry studies across Norway, Finland, and the UK.
