Elina Aimo-Koivisto is a Clinical Instructor at the University of Helsinki's Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, specifically within the Department of Equine and Small Animal Medicine. Her research focuses on antimicrobial resistance, bacterial pathogens in veterinary settings, and zoonotic diseases. She has investigated topics such as alternative antimicrobial therapies for canine otic infections, prevalence of ESBL-producing bacteria in equine hospitals, and outbreak analysis of Corynebacterium species in horses. Her work bridges clinical practice and public health concerns.
She has been awarded two research grants: SELS2023/Aimo-Koivisto Elina (€3,000, 2024–2026) and ETTS 2023/Aimo-Koivisto Elina (€2,000, 2023–2025), both funded by veterinary science foundations. She holds a doctoral researcher role in the Clinical Veterinary Medicine program.
