Elifcan Celebi is an Assistant Professor in the School of Politics and International Relations at University College Dublin. Previously, she held roles as a Postdoctoral Researcher and Lecturer at the University of Cologne. Her research focuses on the politics of social policy, democratic backsliding, civil society, gender and politics, and qualitative research methodologies.
Education: BA from Marmara University, MA in Social Policy from Boğaziçi University, and PhD from the International Max Planck Research School on the Social and Political Constitution of the Economy.
She has received the Faculty Teaching Prize 2022 from the University of Cologne and the 2018 Sirin Tekeli Research Award for Gender Studies. Her grants include the Cologne International Forum Innovative Tandem Fund (2024–2025).
Teaching responsibilities include coordinating modules on Qualitative Research Methods, Politics of Care, Feminist Perspectives on Social Policy, and Gender and Politics. She has also contributed to research design and introductory qualitative methods courses.
Professional activities include roles as an Associate Member of the Cologne Center for Comparative Politics, consulting work, and peer reviewing for journals like Journal of Middle East Women's Studies and Journal of Social Policy.
