Elif Neyzi serves as the inaugural BIAA-Bilkent Joint Research Fellow (2024-25) at Bilkent University, specializing in Byzantine studies with a focus on urban and social history. She holds a PhD in Classics from the University of Edinburgh, where her dissertation examined monastic institutions in Late Byzantine Constantinople.
Her research spans:
- Urban topography and social transformations in Byzantine Constantinople (1204–1453)
- Social history of monasticism in Late Byzantium
- Cultural exchange patterns across the late medieval Mediterranean
- Reception Studies, particularly Byzantine women's portrayal in comparative literature
Currently finalizing her monograph 'Byzantine Monasteries of Constantinople: Historical Transformation of an Urban Structure in the Late Middle Ages (1204–1453)', she will also produce a podcast series exploring Byzantine heritage reception in Türkiye. Her recognition includes:

This fellowship supports her scholarly work on Constantinople's monastic urban landscape and cultural legacy dissemination through digital media.
