معرفی
Elias Lolis is a Professor of Pharmacology at Yale University, affiliated with the Yale School of Medicine. He also serves as the Faculty Director of the Office for Postdoctoral Affairs, Director of Graduate Studies for his department, and chairs the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee. His research focuses on structural biology, inflammation, and cancer, using techniques like X-ray crystallography and CRISPR/Cas9 mouse models.
Education:
- BA in Chemistry, Columbia College (1984)
- PhD in Chemistry, MIT (1989)
- Postdoctoral training at Rockefeller University (1991)
Research Interests: Dr. Lolis studies chemokines, macrophage migration inhibitory factor (MIF), and their roles in disease. His lab explores protein structures, signaling pathways, and drug discovery for cancer, inflammation, and infectious diseases. Recent work includes developing small molecule inhibitors and engineering biotherapeutics.
Publications: His recent studies highlight MIF's role in immunity, SARS-CoV-2 drug mechanisms, and CXCR5 antagonists for autoimmune diseases. Articles emphasize structural insights, allosteric inhibition, and translational applications.
Awards:
- Pharmaceutical Manufacturers Association Faculty Development Award (Basic Pharmacology)
- Donaghue Young Investigator Award
- GlaxoWellcome Award in Drug Discovery
Advising & Mentorship: Dr. Lolis has mentored over 25 postdoctoral associates, 7 PhD students, and numerous undergraduates. He actively promotes diversity in STEM through recruitment initiatives and leadership roles in committees like the Intersections Science Fellows Symposium.
Labs & Resources: Founder of the Yale Macromolecular X-ray Facility and co-founder of the Yale Keck Bioinformatics Resource. His lab, the Lolis Lab, is a hub for structural and functional protein studies.
