Elia Psouni is a Professor and Director of the Division of Developmental Psychology at Lund University. Her research focuses on attachment processes, emotion regulation, and socio-cognitive development in children and families. She has developed clinical tools like the Secure Base Script Test (SBST) and Parental Caregiving and Attachment Interview (P-CAI). Her work bridges developmental psychology with evolutionary studies, examining milestones like walking onset and weaning across species. She holds leadership roles in the Nordic Attachment Network and contributes to trauma-informed care initiatives in schools and foster care.
Education: MSc in Organizational Psychology (Bristol University, 1997), PhD in Developmental Psychology (Bristol University, 1999), Postdoc in Medical Psychology (Lund University, 2000–2002). Registered clinical psychologist in Sweden and the UK.
Research Themes: Attachment dynamics, family systems resilience, evolutionary roots of human development, participatory research with children. Her current projects address child mental health, trauma-informed interventions, and parental caregiving representations.
