Eli Støa

Eli Støa is a Professor and Vice Dean of Research at NTNU's Department of Architecture and Planning within the Faculty of Architecture and Fine Arts. She holds a Civil Architect degree from NTH (1984) and a PhD (1996) from NTNU. Her research focuses on sustainable housing, residential architecture, and the interplay between housing ideals and societal needs.

Her research explores housing quality in asylum reception centers, climate-neutral neighborhoods like Brøset, and innovative housing solutions through the BOPILØT project. She emphasizes social sustainability, architectural ethics, and participatory design.

• Leading the BOPILØT innovation project (2018–2022), collaborating with municipalities and organizations to pilot alternative housing models
• Interdisciplinary studies on housing quality in asylum reception centers (2012–2017)
• Climate-neutral district development in Brøset (2009–2014)

Publications span topics like cooperative housing models, energy-efficient design, and architectural interventions for refugee integration. She has supervised numerous PhD candidates and served as head of NTNU's PhD council until 2020.
