Dr. Eleonora Gaudieri is a Project Associate (post-doc) at the Vienna Center for the History of Collecting (VCHC), Institute of Art History, University of Vienna since October 2023. She is affiliated with the Faculty of History and Cultural Studies at the University of Vienna, where she focuses on early modern art, particularly Italian art and its reception in Europe.
Her research interests include diplomatic and cultural relations between Vienna and Venice (especially in the 18th century), Venetian painting transfer to Vienna, Baroque art, and art historiography with special focus on Alois Riegl's work. Her scholarly contributions demonstrate a strong emphasis on methodological approaches to art history and the reinterpretation of historical concepts.
Dr. Gaudieri's publications reveal consistent focus on Alois Riegl's conceptualization of Baroque art, utilizing unpublished manuscripts and lecture notes to reassess established art historical frameworks. Her work bridges historical research with contemporary methodological debates in art history.
